Regular Members
NOTE: Membership
dues changed starting in 2010 to reflect the Society’s commitment to support
the ‘Head & Neck Pathology Journal.’
Individuals who hold a doctorate degree in medicine, dentistry or
veterinary medicine; have completed an accredited training program in
general, oral or veterinary pathology; and have expressed or
demonstrated an interest in head and neck pathology are eligible to
become regular members. Individuals who hold other doctorate degrees
(PhD, ScD etc) in allied health professional fields will also be
considered.
Membership is open to all individuals of all nationalities who
meet the above criteria.
Starting 2010, Regular members who pay dues of $100 (USD) per year,
may vote, hold office and serve on committees. This includes a journal support
fee of $70 per year and is in line with the society's commitment to support '
.’ The Open Access fee
(normally $3,000 per submitted article) will be waived for Regular Members in
good standing with current dues paid.
Resident Members
Individuals who hold a doctorate degree in medicine, dentistry or
veterinary medicine, who have not yet completed training program in
general, oral or veterinary pathology, and have expressed or
demonstrated an interest in head and neck pathology are eligible to
become resident members. Once they have received a certificate verifying
completion of their training (board certification encouraged but not
required) they may apply for regular membership.
Resident members may participate in educational activities, but may
not vote, hold office or serve on committees. There are no dues for
residents. Resident applicants must submit a letter from their chairman
confirming their status.
Emeritus Members
Individuals who have been active members in good standing in the
Society for a minimum of five years, who have retired from gainful
employment in the practice of pathology or who have been forced into
retirement due to illness or disability.
Emeritus members do not pay dues but may vote, hold office or serve
on committees.
Honorary Members
This category is for individuals identified by the membership because
of exceptional meritorious achievement in the filed of head and neck
pathology. "Honorary members" do not pay dues and may not
vote, hold office or serve on committees.
International Members
This category is for individuals who reside outside the United States or
Canada, otherwise the criteria are the same as those for regular members.
International members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges as regular
members, and will pay full dues in US currency.

Sponsorship by two members of the Society in good standing is also
required for nomination. Once received, final election to membership
depends on approval by majority vote of the members at the annual
meeting.
Transfer to "Emeritus" member will be considered by the
membership at the annual meeting upon request by the member, provided he
or she, is at the time of such request, in good standing and qualifies
for emeritus status as noted above.
Termination of Membership
If a member fails to pay dues for two consecutive years membership
will be automatically terminated. Members will be re-instated upon
petition of the Secretary and payment of past and present dues.
Tax Status of
the Society
NASHNP is a Tax Exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) andcontributions
are tax deductible under section 170 code.
